Vampire on the loose, Serbs are warned

Written by admin on Wednesday, November 28th, 2012

VAMPIRI-Sava-SavanovicGarlic sales in the region of Bajina Basta are booming after a local council  issued the warning of a possible escaped vampire.

Sava Savanovic, the country’s most famous monster, is feared to be roaming  the  area following the collapse of his old watermill home.

Local mayor, Miodrag Vujetic said: “People are worried. Everybody knows the  legend of this vampire and the thought that he is now homeless and looking  for  somewhere else and possibly other victims is terrifying people. We are  all  frightened.”

The mill was bought by the local Jagodic family who refused to carry out  building work on the crumbling property because of fears it would anger the  vampire.

But now it has collapsed, sparking fears the vampire is free once again.

“It’s all very well for people who don’t live in the area to laugh at our  fears but nobody in the region is in any doubt that vampires do exist,” said  Mr Vujetic.

He confirmed the local council has advised all villagers to put garlic on  their doors to protect them from the vampire as it is known to repel the  blood-thirsty monsters.

Villagers who cashed in catering to tourists fascinated by the legend of Sava  Savanovic say they now wish they had left him well alone.
